Any sighting of James Stewart on a bike these days creates huge talk, if only because such sightings are so rare. In fact, the last time we saw James on a bike prior to this year’s James Stewart Ride Day at his home track in Florida was… last year’s James Stewart Ride Day at his home track in Florida.

This ride day is a tie-in with the James Stewart Spring Classic, the big amateur race held in March at Freestone Raceway in Wortham, Texas. Class winners at that event get to ride with James at his house in the fall.

Last year James (and his brother Malcolm) spent the day riding Yamahas, and the internet went crazy trying to figure out what that meant. It ultimately meant nothing, because Malcolm went racing on a Suzuki and James never raced anything. This year James was spotted on a Honda. Suffice to say this doesn’t mean he’s lining up at Anaheim 1 on a Honda, or anything.

As we all know James hasn’t yet announced anything about a retirement plan in the future,

James spoke to one of our editors and admitted the following-

“I’ve been out the game for a long time in racing terms now, I’m trying to get back to how fast I used to be on the track, give it a little more time”

Do you have a signed contract with any brand as of yet?

“As your all probably aware right now, I no longer have a contract with Suzuki, after a few months without a ride I had a few offers from Honda’s racing team, We got a contact signed around 2 months before the JS7 Ride Day”

How long is your new contract with Honda?

“I’m contracted to be with Honda for the next 4 years, but this don’t mean continuous racing”

When will you be back on the track?

“Lets just say, I like playing outdoors”

So, Stewart looks to be returning to racing for the 2018 Outdoor season! We cannot wait to see you back on the track!
